Helmsman

Questions and answers

Short answers. The longer ones are in the guides.

In private testing: the trading engine is not live yet. The console you can open today shows sample data and nothing is traded. These pages describe how Helmsman is built to work.

Does Helmsman hold my funds?
No. Your funds stay in your own Hyperliquid account. Helmsman places orders with a trading key that cannot withdraw or transfer.
What does it cost?
0.03% of what Helmsman trades for you — $3.00 per $10,000 — collected by Hyperliquid on each fill. Hyperliquid’s own trading fee is separate. There is no subscription.
Do I need to deposit anything with Helmsman?
No. You fund your Hyperliquid account the usual way, with USDC. Helmsman has no deposit address.
How much do I need?
Hyperliquid’s minimum order is $10, and your position is the trader’s scaled down to your allocation. With a small allocation, some of the trader’s positions will be too small to mirror.
Can I trade by hand in the same account?
Yes. Positions you open yourself are left alone. Hyperliquid keeps one net position per market, so avoid trading a market by hand while a follow is active in it.
Can I follow more than one trader?
Yes, with one condition: only one follow can lead a given market at a time, because your account has a single net position there.
What happens after 180 days?
The trading key expires and must be approved again. If it lapses, following stops; your positions stay where they are.
What happens if I revoke the key on Hyperliquid?
Helmsman’s next order is rejected. It marks the follow as ended and stops, without retrying.
Will I get the same result as the trader?
No. You trade later, at different prices, with your own leverage cap and fees. Expect your result to differ.
Is it live?
It is in private testing. The console you can open today shows sample data and places no orders.
